Camp Connection
By Staff, Pittsburgh Tribune-Review
If you want to catch a peek of children having fun in the sun at summer camp, try out the Web site Bunk1.com, which has its eye on nearly 1,000 camps in the United States and Canada.
Bunk1.com provides daily photos to subscriber parents. Parents also have the options of e-mailing their children and sending electronic "care packages."
The messages from home will be printed out and put in campers' mailboxes. The kids won't have access to computers in keeping with the traditional summer camp experience.
"We've enabled camp families to stay connected to their campers, while giving camp owners the resources to easily manage their online presence," says Ari Ackerman, founder and CEO of Bunk1.com.
The Web site also offers a new search tool that narrows down camp choices for parents and children based on various factors, such as activities and location.
For older kids, otherwise known as potential camp counselors, there is a summer job bank listing open positions.
